How insurers actually differ

Brand and price are visible at sign-up. The differences that matter most over 30 years are usually invisible.

  • Ownership model

Mutual / cooperative insurers (Debeka, Hallesche, Continentale, Gothaer, Barmenia, Signal Iduna) tend to raise premiums more conservatively over time than shareholder-owned insurers.

  • Premium-increase track record

Decades of premium-increase history are public and varies sharply between insurers. The cheapest entry premium is rarely the cheapest 30-year cost.

  • Tariff guarantees

Some tariffs guarantee benefit levels for the contract's lifetime; others can be adjusted. Read this before signing.

  • Service and claims experience

Digital-first insurers (Ottonova, DKV) settle claims faster. Legacy insurers offer broader in-person service. Match this to your preferences.

Always check with an independent advisor, that is us

Eleven major insurers, hundreds of tariffs, and decades of premium-stability data to compare. The structural differences on this page are real, but reading them is not the same as choosing the right one. That is what we do at MyHealthcareBroker, and that is why this page exists.

  • We are independent, not tied to any insurer

We are licensed under §34d GewO and contractually obligated to compare the full market on your behalf. We are not on the payroll of Allianz, Debeka, or Ottonova, so the recommendation reflects your case, not anyone's sales target.

  • We are free for you to use

Our fee is paid by the insurer that wins your contract, not by you. The premium you pay is identical whether you sign through us or directly with the insurer. Using us has no cost; not using us usually costs you a worse-fit tariff.

  • We have full market access

We quote across all 41 licensed German private insurers, including the 11 majors on this page. Going direct to one insurer means seeing one insurer's tariffs only, with no opportunity-cost view. We give you the full comparison.

  • We work for you, not the insurer

Our legal duty is to recommend what fits your situation: age, health profile, family setup, employment status, and 30-year horizon. Captive insurer agents only recommend their own products. We recommend whichever of the eleven actually fits.
